In June, the City Council passed and Mayor Rahm Emanuel signed the Paid Sick Leave ordinance, which will take effect on July 1, 2017, and will be added to the city’s minimum wage poster.
The law provides for the accrual for a minimum of one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked, until to a maximum of 40 hours in a year (unless the employer decides to opt for more).
